About Us

Gilad Narkis Law Offices specializes in the different branches of commercial law as well as in banking law, corporate law, real estate transactions and insolvency proceedings.

The firm’s founder and lead attorney, Adv. Gilad Narkis, is a well-known authority in his field and the author of numerous books on banking, including the series titled Duties Applicable to Banks, which is used by the majority of legal practitioners in the field, as well as the Compendium of Banking Laws and The Fair Credit Law.

The firm has to its credit a string of legal precedents and significant judgments issued by Israeli courts. Among other things, the firm was instrumental in causing the Supreme Court to overrule a longstanding precedent in the law of negotiable instruments (the Guisky Precedent from 1962) that allowed banks and other credit providers to execute postdated checks of which they became holders, even if a check was irregular on its face. The judgment setting aside the Guisky Precedent was upheld by the Supreme Court in a motion filed by Bank Leumi for a further hearing before an expanded seven-justice panel, thus introducing a dramatic change in the laws governing the negotiation of checks.

Adv. Narkis’s primary area of specialization is in lawsuits against banks. In addition, he serves as a court-appointed receiver, liquidator and special administrator.

In 2019 Adv. Narkis was awarded an LL.M. with distinction in the research track, based on a thesis on the subject of the banking contract as a relational contract (written under the guidance of Prof. Moshe Gelbard), which was published as a book in the same year.

Adv. Narkis is Co-Chair of the Banking Committee of the Israel Bar Association, lectures in various professional forums, including the Israel Bar Association and the Institute of Advanced Studies for Court Registrars, publishes articles on legal issues and is also frequently interviewed on programs dealing with the firm’s fields of expertise.

Adv. Narkis is a reserve officer in the IDF with the rank of major.
